There are 2 different ways to get a document's ID when using `@angular/fire`.

You can add the parameter `{ idField: 'id' }` to your collection when using the `collectionData()` observable.

You can also use the observable `collectionChanges()` and access the internal metadata of the document to manually get the ID and add it to the resulting object.

AngularFire is the officially supported AngularJS binding for Firebase. Firebase is a backend service that provides data storage, file storage, authentication, and static website hosting for your Angular app.

You'll learn the 2 Observables that Firebase Authentication provides to subscribe to the authentication state of your application, `authState` and `user`.

You'll see how they both return the same `User` object from Firebase Authentication.

And you'll learn that the difference is that `authState` triggers when the user logs in, or logs out of the application, while `user` is called both of those times, and also is called when Firebase refreshes the user's authentication token.

As a personal guideline, if I need to do an operation when the user's token is refreshed (_for example, update a 3rd party service_) I'll use `user`, if not, I'll default to `authState`.

JavaScript® (often shortened to JS) is a lightweight, interpreted, object-oriented language with first-class functions, most known as the scripting language for Web pages, but used in many non-browser environments as well such as node.js or Apache CouchDB. We'll discuss the minimum set of files that are required to get up and running with Vue.

We'll add an `index.html` file as our entry point, a `main.js` file that will contain our JavaScript code and a `styles.css` that will contain all of our CSS. We also load Vue into our project with UNPKG which exposes the Vue object to us.

HTML 5 is the structure of our web pages. It is the markup that represents the DOM (document object model).

We'll round out the HTML for our form fields by adding radio buttons and checkboxes, including each in a checked, unchecked and disabled state. You'll learn about best practices for both field types semantically as well as when to use each.

Radio buttons should be used when you want a single selection out of a set of options while checkboxes should be used when you want multiple selections out of a set. A key difference between radio/checkbox and other inputs is that you wrap the label around the options which creates a direct relationship between the label and input so a `for` attribute is not strictly necessary.

Continuing on from our text inputs, we'll make our next field type including a select with the `multiple` attribute. Additionally, we'll include these fields in a disabled state. Both types will use the `.form-group` created in the previous lesson for a touch of layout styling.

You'll notice the same pattern here as with text inputs in that to make select inputs fully semantic and accessible you will need to add a `for` attribute that matches the `id` of the select element

You can use an element with the type "reset" within a form to reset a form on click. It's particularly useful when we don't want users to refresh a page in order to get back to an initial state.

Use the HTML preprocessor Pug to generate markup for a form. Here we generate a set of labels and checkboxes. We link these using ES6 Template Literals with a loop index.

In this exercise, we will be going over 2 examples of when to use aria-hidden (hint: decoration) and when to use hidden.

In the first example, we will be hiding a "middle dot" that we have for formatting. This middle dot isn't necessary to be read out, so we add an aria-hidden attribute on that span.

When we use hidden, we will completely hide things from the viewport AND the screen reader.

But these tools can be hard to understand without spending time to learn them, so many developers fall into a rut of blindly copying and pasting commands. No more! Bash is a command processor that typically runs in a text window, where the user types commands that cause actions. Bash can also read and execute commands from a file, called a shell script.

In this lesson, we'll use the power of awk to select the columns and rows of data that match our condition. We'll pass a `,` (comma) to the `-F` flag (the F stands for field separator), to tell awk to split on commas. From there, the world is our oyster and we can tell awk to only return rows that match whatever parameters we pass.

`awk` is a specialized tool and programming language for querying and transforming text.   In this lesson, we’ll scratch the surface of the possibilities it provides by leveraging it in one of its most common use cases: extracting data from columns of text. Awk makes it easy to select and print just the columns and rows that we want from commands, like `ps`, that return a table of data.

Pandoc is a command-line tool built in Haskell that can convert almost any markup or word processing format interchangeably. You specify the input and the output types and pandoc will do the rest.

In this lesson we will convert a few markdown files to pdf. You will see how to convert a single file and then we'll write a script to loop through a couple files and convert them dynamically.

This lesson requires that you install `pandoc` and have `pdflatex` available.

Windsurf and Cursor are both able to take an image and then use an agent to build out what it sees in that image. I've been using Cursor for a very long time and their "Agent" feature in Composer is fairly new, so I'm still getting used to it. But since Windsurf recently got onto the stage with their Cascade agent, they've slowly been gaining the mind share on the UX for coding agents. I decided to put them to the test by putting Windsurf and Cursor on the exact same screen side by side trying to accomplish the same task and to see which workflow I would prefer. I've been a diehard Cursor user for over a year now, so it's going to take a lot for me to switch to a different IDE.
