Vue (pronounced /vjuː/, like view) is a progressive framework for building user interfaces. Unlike other monolithic frameworks, Vue is designed from the ground up to be incrementally adoptable. The core library is focused on the view layer only, and is very easy to pick up and integrate with other libraries or existing projects. On the other hand, Vue is also perfectly capable of powering sophisticated Single-Page Applications when used in combination with modern tooling and supporting libraries.

There are several components from the `@tresjs/cientos` that you can use to enhance your **TresJS 3D scenes**.

- `ContactShadows` for performant fake shadows
- Wrap models with `Levioso` for subtle floating animations
- Add real HTML markup to your animations with `HTML`

Using these abstractions from `@tresjs/cientos`, you can create polished **3D experiences**.

In this **TresJS** lesson you will see how to connect a 3D model to your application state. You'll learn to:

Create Interactive 3D Experiences with TresJS

Astro is a flexible web framework that allows you to build fast websites to suit your needs.

By default, Astro will build your site using Static Site Generation (SSG). This means the data in your site is loaded at build time so that the end-user gets served static pages that load quickly.

While Astro defaults this way, it also has Server-Side Rendering (SSR) that you can enable if you have more serverful needs in your application.

Along similar lines, Astro utilizes HTML and the browser as a default but when you need more flexibility you can opt into an Astro Island. Islands use React, Vue, Angular, or any frontend JavaScript framework you are used to enhance the user experience in your site.

Og images are important for any blog or website. They are the share image that is shown when you include a url to your site on social media.

Astro makes it easy to include og images within its SEO package but making these images dynamic takes a little more set up.

In this lesson we'll set up an Astro API route returns a link to a dynamic image utilizing `satori` and `@resvg/resvg-js` to do so.

The was we set it up, we'll create different templates that the API endpoint will accept and each template can render different end points so you could have a default template, one for your blog posts, and possibly another for your about page.

During this process, you'll learn how to pass data from the client to the server through URL Search Params which will power the dynamic portion of the image generation

Implement Dynamic OG Image Generation with Astro API Routes and Satori

Now that we have our database set up, we need to use it!

On our blog post page, we have a likes button waiting for us to implement the likes feature. On page load, we'll make a fetch call to a `/api/likes/[slug].ts` GET end point to return the number of likes for the page. 

Similarly, when someone clicks the like button we want to send a POST request to that same endpoint.

On the server side we will set up `GET` and `POST` handlers to implement this functionality. In those functions we'll use Drizzle to return the likes for that blog post and in the case of a `POST` we'll create a record if it doesn't exist or increment a like if it does and return.

Astro API endpoints utilize browser `Response` API so you'll get a chance to handle returning different status's based on the data present.

Node.js is a platform built on Chrome's JavaScript runtime for easily building fast, scalable network applications. Node.js uses an event-driven, non-blocking I/O model that makes it lightweight and efficient, perfect for data-intensive real-time applications that run across distributed devices.

By default Astro is building our site as statically generated (SSG). Because we want to add some runtime features to our blog and interface with a database in the future we need to convert it to be server-side rendered (SSR). 

Astro has integrations for this, because we know we want to deploy to Fly.io via docker we'll use the Node.js integration and set the output to 'hybrid'. Hybrid, as opposed to 'server', will still statically generate the pages of our blog that are static but give us the option of SSR when we need it.

One of the beauties of Astro is that you don't need to use a JavaScript UI library. Astro lets you us plain JavaScript when you want to. 

It's a good idea to get into the habit of starting with vanilla JS when you have a simple use-case like adding a like button. This will mean less JavaScript on the page for your user than if you were to implement this in React. 

We'll refactor our React like button and turn it into vanilla JS with the result for the user. Another added benefit of this approach is you'll get more familiar with the native browser API which will pay dividends for you in the future.

Everything up to this point Astro builds statically which means there is no JavaScript loaded on any of our pages. It's all loaded during build time and served as static files on the web

When we do want to add some interactivity into our site we can use Astro Islands to leverage JavaScript on our pages.

Astro islands are interactive components that Astro treats differently than the rest. Instead of just executing them during build time and saving the output, Astro will also hydrate the components at a specific point and ship the JavaScript needed for the component to be interactive. 

To use a UI framework, we need to add its integration, so we did `npx astro add react` to add the react integration.

Then we will create an ordinary react component, just as we would in a react page, and import it and place it in a page. To mark that component as an island, we use a `client` directive. The client load directive hydrates the component during the initial page load.

The `client` directive has several different loading strategies you can use based on your usecase:

- `client:load`
- `client:idle`
- `client:visible`
- `client:media`
- `client:only`

The next section we are going to get into advanced features that you can build with Astro. Depending on your use-case, you might not need some of the features but I wanted to put these together for you so you know what exists and how to approach these features with Astro.

It's positioned as a high-performance, cost-effective option. Notably, Google's benchmarks included comparisons against OpenAI's very recent O4-mini, drawing praise for transparency ([Nathan Lambert](https://x.com/natolambert/status/1912958672881303943)). It's available via the Gemini API, AI Studio, Vertex, and the Gemini app. The [Live API docs](https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/docs/live) are also updated.
* **OpenAI Counters with o3/o4-mini & Codex CLI:** OpenAI launched [o3 and o4-mini](https://openai.com/index/introducing-o3-and-o4-mini/), highlighting their agentic capabilities and tool use during Chain-of-Thought. Alongside these, they released the open-source [Codex CLI](https://github.com/openai/codex), a coding agent designed to leverage these new models. * **Claude Gets Research Superpowers:** Anthropic rolled out a major [Claude upgrade](https://x.com/jowettbrendan/status/1912446262756151732) introducing a "Research" agent capability. It can search the web and internal docs, chain queries, and explore topics agentically, building citations along the way. It's heavily rate-limited at the moment, but still fun to play with for generating short 8-second clips.

The biggest splash was probably GPT-4.1 hitting the streets, but there's plenty more action around MCP, Vercel's v0, Google's developer tools, and interesting community discussions. I've spent some time with GPT-4.1 already (specifically in Cursor), and while it shows promise, it didn't quite convince me to switch from Gemini 2.5 Pro yet. It stumbled on a few basic requests where Gemini usually shines on the first attempt.

Cursor's AI Agent has the abilitly to invoke MCP tools, but they lack direct access to your project. This lesson shows how to build custom MCP (Model Context Protocol) server tools that bridge this gap. Learn to define tool parameters using Zod schemas and the crucial `.describe()` method to explicitly request necessary context from the Cursor environment *before* your tool runs. See how the AI gathers this information (like Git status or version via terminal commands, or web search results) and passes it to your tool, enabling powerful, context-aware automation.

**Workflow demonstrated in this lesson:**

*   Scaffold a basic MCP server using a Cloudflare template (`pnpm create cloudflare`).
*   Run the MCP server locally and configure it in Cursor settings.
