“a11y” stands for “accessibility.” It is a numeronym, with 11 representing the count of letters between the letter a and the letter y.

Accessibility is broken down into 4 categories of disability: visual, cognitive, auditory, motor. 

Regardless of the category of disability, accessibilities aim in web development is to make applications and websites usable for everyone.

To audit our app for accessibility issues at runtime we can use Cypress to run our application in a browser environment and then with the aid of the axe-core `cypress-axe` library we can analyze the current page for any accessibility issues.

JavaScript® (often shortened to JS) is a lightweight, interpreted, object-oriented language with first-class functions, most known as the scripting language for Web pages, but used in many non-browser environments as well such as node.js or Apache CouchDB. It is a prototype-based, multi-paradigm scripting language that is dynamic, and supports object-oriented, imperative, and functional programming styles.

To audit our app for accessibility issues at runtime we can use Selenium WebDriver to run our application in a browser environment and then with the aid of the aXe-core `webdriverjs` library we can analyze the current page for any accessibility issues.

In this lesson we install the [Redux Dev Tools](https://github.com/zalmoxisus/redux-devtools-extension#installation) extension into Chrome and demonstrate how it lets you inspect the various actions passing through your redux store as well as all of the data it contains. We also briefly demonstrate the time travel debugging capability as we walk back through and un-add items to our shopping cart.

The key here is that because we used [configureStore](https://redux-toolkit.js.org/api/configureStore) from RTK which automatically includes support for redux dev tool without having to explicitly turn it on.

Sometimes you encounter a backend issue which seems to occur only on your computer, with a very specific sets of headers, cookies etc. Because of that, it's useful to have a way of easily sharing network requests sent by your browser with other members of your team.

In this quick lesson we're going to learn how to copy a network request as `fetch` (so we can test it in the Chrome DevTools console/in a node.js script) or as cURL (so we can test it in a terminal).

Sometimes when debugging our CSS styles it's useful to be able to see what a DOM element is going to look like in a given state (e.g. `:focus`, `:active, `:hover`) etc.

Unfortunately it's not possible to both hover over an element and debug it in Chrome DevTools at the same time (since we only have a single cursor!).

In this lesson, we look at how you can use `content-visibility: auto` to significantly improve page load performance by applying it to `section` elements. The property tells the browser to skip rendering an element if it is off-screen and below the fold on the initial load. 

This can introduce some scroll jumping which we walk through how to combat with `contain-intrinsic-size`.

The specification describes a CSS box model optimized for user interface design. In the flex layout model, the children of a flex container can be laid out in any direction, and can “flex” their sizes, either growing to fill unused space or shrinking to avoid overflowing the parent.

With just a handful of CSS properties, we can create an intrinsically responsive photo gallery using flexbox. This is accomplished by setting our preferred width as the `flex-basis` value and allowing items to both shrink and grow. The use of `object-fit: cover` on images allows them to fully fill up the list item without distortion or overflow. We finish the gallery with a small animated effect that alters `opacity`.

CSS Grid and Flexbox are very useful tools for providing the overall layout of a page.  I take a specific design and create the high level layout using css grid and then arrange an individual section using flex box.

We'll also learn how `margin` can be applied to resolve for lack of a well-supported `gap` property in flexbox. It's tempting to pick up a framework which has preselected flexbox or grid as the layout tool of choice, but it's important to learn when and why to use each method. Puppeteer is a Node library which provides a high-level API to control headless Chrome or Chromium over the DevTools Protocol. It can also be configured to use full (non-headless) Chrome or Chromium.

We explore how to create additional nested routes by converting files into directories, allowing for further nesting.

For example, to create a nested route like `/employees/$employeeId/edit`, we can create a **directory** (!) named `$employeeId` and place an `index.tsx` file inside it to define the route component for this nested route.

This approach provides flexibility in organizing files while maintaining the convention that file names and locations align with route paths. We also see how to adapt existing components and loaders to work with these reorganized routes, enabling features like edit forms or delete actions (or whatever) within nested routes.

In this lesson, we learn how to parametrize the loader for a nested route in TanStack Router.

We focus on a nested route like `/employees/$employeeId`, where the `$employeeId` is a **dynamic parameter**.

To fetch data for this route, we use a `loader` function that accesses the `$employeeId` parameter. This is achieved by using the params object available in the `loader` function, which contains the dynamic segments of the URL. We then use this parameter to call a function like `getEmployeeById`, which fetches specific employee details from an API.

In this lesson, we learn how to create nested routes and outlets in TanStack Router using file-based routing.

We start by creating a new `employees` directory and files to represent nested routes, such as `/employees/$employeeId`. The `$` symbol is used to denote dynamic parameters.

We then use the `<Link>` component from TanStack Router to create links to these nested routes, passing necessary parameters.

To render the nested content, we use the `<Outlet>` component (nested), which automatically renders child routes. This approach allows us to dynamically display stuff under a nested route.

All the time, the TanStack Router generator automatically updates the route tree based on file changes - our routing configuration remains consistent 🔥
