Supabase Function Hooks allow us to subscribe to change events in the database - such as `insert`, `update` and `delete` - and make a HTTP request with the changed data.

In this lesson, we refactor our `revalidate` route to handle inserts, updates and deletes.

Additionally, we create a Function Hook to subscribe to all change events on the `articles` table, and automatically send a POST request to the `revalidate` route of our Cloudflare Worker.

This automatically refreshes the KV store anytime a value is changed in the database, and decouples the revalidation of our cache, from our user requesting data. This means, theoretically, users should never have to wait for a request to the Supabase origin server, as the cache is automatically populated, updated and cleared to remain in sync with the database.

Automatically revalidate KV Store cache on change with Database Webhooks in Supabase

Cache Busting or Invalidation, is the process of clearing stale data from a cache. After the first request, the response data from Supabase is cached in our KV store, and never fetched again. This means if data in the database changes, our KV store will never be updated.

In this lesson, we create a `revalidate` route, which fetches fresh data from Supabase and updates the cache.

Cache-busting with Cloudflare KV stores and Supabase

KV Storage is a read-optimized, eventually consistent cache that can be accessed from Cloudflare Workers. The interface for reading and writing is similar to `localStorage` in the browser.

In this lesson, we create a `read-kv` route for reading from the KV store. This automatically gets passed any KV stores that have been bound to the Cloudflare Worker. Initially, the store is empty, so returns the value `null`.

Additionally, we create a `write-kv` route to populate the store with test data.

To reduce the overhead of stringifying and parsing JSON objects, we create two helper functions to easily read and write values to any KV store.

Lastly, we publish a production version of our Cloudflare Worker, to confirm that writing these value locally - to our preview store - does not affect our production store.

Read and write KV Storage cache from Cloudflare Worker

Supabase is an open source Firebase alternative. A service to:

- Listen to database changes.
- Query your tables, including filtering, pagination, and deeply nested relationships (like GraphQL).
- Create, update, and delete rows.
- Manage your users and their permissions.
- Interact with your database using a simple UI.

Supabase is not a 1-to-1 mapping of Firebase. Most notably, Supabase uses Postgres rather than a NoSQL store.

Itty Router is a tiny router package that has a similar API to Express. In this video, we install Itty Router and the Extras packages.

Additionally, we refactor our existing worker to use the router, and declare a dynamic route to fetch a single article.

To handle paths and articles that don't exist, we add a catch all route that returns a 404 status.

Lastly, we use the `json` helper to automatically stringify JSON objects and set the `Content-Type` header for `application/json`.

Proxy Supabase requests with Cloudflare Workers and Itty Router

Supabase JS is an NPM package which provides a simple interface from JavaScript to our Supabase project. It allows us to query and mutate data using its Object Relational Mapping (ORM) syntax, and subscribe to realtime events.

In this video, we install the Supabase JS package and create a new client using our project's URL and Anon Key. These can be found in the Supabase dashboard for our project, under `Settings > API`.

We store these values as secrets in our Cloudflare account, and use them to instantiate a new Supabase client.

Additionally, we write a query to select all of our articles from our Supabase instance, and send them back as the response from our Cloudflare Worker.

In order to send a JSON response, we first stringify the object we get back from Supabase, and then set a `Content-Type` header to notify the browser that this will be a type of `application/json`.

Query Supabase from Cloudflare Worker

Cloudflare Workers are serverless functions that run at the Edge! 🔪

The Wrangler CLI is a tool for interfacing with your Cloudflare account, and creating or publishing your Workers.

In this video, we use the Wrangler CLI to log in to our Cloudflare account and authorize the `wrangler` command to make changes on our behalf.

Additionally, we create a worker and host it locally with the `npx wrangler dev` command. We then demonstrate making a GET request to our Cloudflare Worker from the browser, and confirm it is sending the correct response.

By modifying the response locally, we can see that changes are reflected any time we refresh the browser.

Jest is a fast and safe testing framework with a focus on simplicity. 
This lesson will walk you through how to add jest to your application by running `yarn add --dev jest` followed by updating your `package.json` to be able to run your tests on the console by using the `yarn test` script.

We've seen how to return easy and a little complex data from our KV, but how about in a real-world application? We are going to remove the code we have created and set up a simple HTML application that will return our data based on an API which we will create.

We can leverage GitHub Actions to automate the running of all of our accessibility auditing tools as part of a Continuous Integration (CI) workflow. 

Auditing tools will only catch a percentage of potential accessibility issues, it is no replacement for manual testing.  But being able to automate the auditing will add efficiencies to our testing and provide an early warning system that can be run much more frequently than it’s practical to perform manual testing. Render Components with ReactDOM to Write Tests with Jest and jest-axe

Our application works but there is one major flaw. Everyone sees the same to-do's. To make to-do's user-specific, we are going to link users' data to their IP addresses so people only see to-dos based on their IP address.

Now that we have our Workers project up and running, we need to create a KV namespace. A KV namespace is a key-value database that is replicated to Cloudflare's edge. Using the terminal, we will create our namespace and add it to our wrangler.toml file.

Creating a new workers project using Wrangler is pretty easy. We first will install and double-check that we have Wrangler installed. Then we will connect Wrangler to our cloudflare project. Lastly, using the terminal, we can easily create our new Wrangler project.

We can store and retrieve our data from our KV but not the status of whether or not it's checked off. To do that, we create a function called `completeTodo` that will target the checkbox, find the todo based on its id, flips the boolean from false to true and saves that data, and then updates our to-dos.

We've learned how to write and receive data from our database, but we've only done it with fairly simple values. Now we are going to see how to do the same thing but with complex key values. There are two ways of doing this. One is the default route where we just return the value back from our KV. The second is where one route takes in a name parameter and sets it as the value for a key. The second path is the one we are going to look at in this lesson.

To access that data that we stored in our database, we use the .`get()` function. `.get()` is also an async function and we will need to `await` it.

Best practices for building & testing redux applications have changed dramatically over time. This course aims to be a comprehensive yet understandable resource for those seeking to improve the testing of their redux applications.

This course is broken up into three parts.

The intro is look at how to add jest to an existing react redux application that was built on top of [vite](https://vitejs.dev/). When we import assets in React components outside of the `public` folder that Nitro reads for assets by default when running the development server we need to tell Nitro how to find them with the `devProxy` configuration option.

Over the years, your application have grown huge. Sometimes, really HUGE.

Many developers have contributed to the codebase. One day they pushed one coding style, a different one another day. Sometimes even different patterns and solutions for similar problems.

You want to keep your codebase consistent. In the Angular ecosystem, there were well established patterns for doing things the right way ™️. But the old solutions are being challenged by signal-based approach.

Eventually, you ask yourself the key question: **Should you integrate with the NEW solutions or stick to the battle-tested ones, but already considered LEGACY**?

That's a very good question indeed. Don't rush with architectural decisions 🤓.

## 👉 First, think of what problems you want to solve by introducing the change.

Do you have 1k LoC Angular components? Maybe even 2k? Do you and your team enjoy working with these? 😏

Where does the **domain logic and state management code** belong to - do you have a clear guidance on which code should be put where? Have you spot that different devs implement similar features in totally different ways?

Do you keep on asking the same questions over and over again: **whether this certain piece of code** should be **imperative** (plain old object properties and variables) or **reactive** (streams)? It'd be nice to keep all thinga reactive, but more often than not, it introduces complexity.

## 👉 Second, think of long-term consequences.

You are going to have more than one way to **manage the state**. But is that really an issue? If your codebase is modular, separate modules should not depend on each other in any way. Inner abstractions of one should be invisible to the other, etc.

You are going to introduce a **new tool**. On one hand, you need to learn it, and so does your team. But on the other hand, it's a breathe of fresh air. And it's useful to question the way you've been doing things so far. Maybe there's a more effective way?

You are going to embrace signal-based APIs. And that means taking taking advantage of Zoneless Angular. This means using all modern Angular APIs. And you know that signals are the future. Why would you want to stick to the **less performant, less type-safe, less flexible and, objectively, less effective solutions**?

## 👉 Finally, plan your INCREMENTAL integration.

INCREMENTAL is the absolute keyword here. You don't want to tell your PM you need to stop delivering features because of a refactor.

Actually, there's no need for a "refactor". Just pick the first new feature to be implemented. Or pick the one that needs to be extended.

NGRX Signal Store allows you to create both very simple & small stores, as well as bigger ones. **Composition** is the key here.

**Start simple**.

Create a `withState` section with the signals that hold the state. That's already reactive. And relatively simple.

**Start simple**.

Now you can (literally) **`inject` this code into your existing solution**. All you need is to inject your brand new NGRX Signal Store implementation into a component, or a service:

and that's it! What's beatiful is that NGRX Signal Store should remain an implementation details (of a component, service, etc). It **shouldn't leak outside to the entire application unintentionally**. Small NGRX Signal Stores help us to **keep logic more modular**.

In React 19, managing script tags efficiently within components can lead to performance enhancements and simpler code structures.

Originally, using script tags directly in a React component involved complex setups, like using `useEffect` to dynamically add JavaScript code. For instance, a component might dynamically inject script tags to load external widgets. This approach, while functional, resulted in multiple script tags and duplicate iframe elements. This duplication not only cluttered the output but also negatively impacted performance by loading scripts multiple times.

The workaround for this would be to manually hoist any common scripts and maybe load them when they weren't needed by any components.

With React 19 we now have a more effective method. This involves directly placing the script tag within the React component's return statement. This approach ensures that React handles the script loading, avoiding the duplication of script tags.

By implementing the script tags this way, the loading initiator becomes React DOM, which efficiently manages script loading and deduplication. This setup prevents multiple requests for the same script when the component is rendered multiple times, enhancing the overall application performance.

Furthermore, directly embedding the script tag simplifies the code, making the component cleaner and more maintainable.

Let's learn how to dynamically manage title tags in React 19 applications. Rendering `<title>` dynamically is simple enough, however, a challenge arises when multiple title tags are present in the document, which can lead to issues with screen readers and search engine optimization (SEO). The solution presented involves ensuring that only one title tag is rendered at a time by using conditional rendering.

Also we need to make sure to have a single string within the title tag using a template literal, ensuring our HTML remains valid and optimized.

This is an awesome feature because it maintains the same composition style we are familiar with in React components. It simplifies the handling of HTML head elements without needing extra setups like `useEffect` for accessing the head section. Even in situations where our components are rendering within a body element, like within a div, we can manage our head content directly within our components. React takes care of hoisting these elements where they need to go.
