JavaScript® (often shortened to JS) is a lightweight, interpreted, object-oriented language with first-class functions, most known as the scripting language for Web pages, but used in many non-browser environments as well such as node.js or Apache CouchDB. It is a prototype-based, multi-paradigm scripting language that is dynamic, and supports object-oriented, imperative, and functional programming styles.

We'll discuss the minimum set of files that are required to get up and running with Vue.

We'll add an `index.html` file as our entry point, a `main.js` file that will contain our JavaScript code and a `styles.css` that will contain all of our CSS. We also load Vue into our project with UNPKG which exposes the Vue object to us.

Using the open-source project ComfyJS, display a response to chat commands overlaid on the Twitch scenes. We'll use Eleventy templating to create a partial holding the initial command HTML. Then, using [the cicada principle](https://lea.verou.me/2020/07/the-cicada-principle-revisited-with-css-variables/), we'll enable visuals of each command word to appear in a seemingly random order across the scene. We'll use the `ComfyJS.onCommand` method to enable cloning the command template nodes and adding them as the commands are triggered through Twitch chat. CSS transitions will be used to apply a fade and zoom in/out effect for the added command nodes.

To embed Twitch chat, we'll use the open-source project [ComfyJS](https://github.com/instafluff/ComfyJS) which is a JavaScript API to interface with the Twitch API. It offers features like responding to incoming chat messages and chat commands and other events like new subscriptions.

Using ComfyJS, we'll set up a section in the Twitch scenes to show incoming chat messages. This lesson covers the CSS needed to style the chat messages and make older ones scroll out of view once new ones are received. We'll take advantage of Eleventy templating to include the necessary scripts.

Sometimes it's beneficial to add more context for a form field than can be provided by the label. In this lesson, we'll create the `.field-description` class to enable an additional field description. Often we can improve the user experience by grouping related fields, such as first and last name. In these cases, it's appropriate to include `<fieldset>`. We'll first learn how to semantically create the fieldset HTML. Then, we'll set up a series of scalable classes that are flexible for various layout configurations. The layout classes will also be intrinsically responsive - meaning, they will respond to their parent container _or_ the viewport without the use of media queries!

In the last two lessons, we set up the initial state styles for radio buttons and checkboxes. Now we'll add styles for the focus and disabled states using our existing Sass mixins. We'll do this by layering box-shadow effects of a white border and blurred primary color.

We'll also learn about an up and coming pseudo selector - `:focus-within` - that will be used to apply styles to the label of a control in a `:focus` state.

Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) is an XML-based vector image format for two-dimensional graphics with support for interactivity and animation. The SVG specification is an open standard developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) since 1999. SVG images and their behaviors are defined in XML text files.

This lesson will focus on creating the checkbox styles for both the default and checked state. We'll make sure our styles are accessible and able to use our theme system.

We'll get started by adding an inline SVG to our input which we can style. I'll give you a tour of what is happening with the SVG and show you how to display it in the checkbox by providing a width. From there we will set the default state of the SVG to a `scale(0)` and set up a transition so when the checkbox is clicked to scale the SVG to 1.

We'll setup the layout structure for our custom radio button and checkbox styles using CSS grid. These input types will share the `.form-control` component styles. This lesson will apply the initial styles to prepare for creating custom visual control styles.

Similar to focus states for selects, we will need to add a wrapping span and nested span to our radio buttons and checkboxes to apply visual styles to these native elements.

This lesson will focus on styling the radio button styles for both the default and checked state. We'll make sure our styles are accessible, including print-friendly.

We'll use the `::before` selector to apply a box-shadow that we'll inset and apply our primary color to so that we can visually indicate which radio button is selected. When doing this, this style will initially be applied to every radio button element. We fix this visual appearance with an initial transform of `scale(0)` and  then applying a transform `scale(1)` to the `input:checked` selector.

In the previous lesson, we set up the initial state styles for form selects and multi-selects. Now we'll add styles for the focus and disabled states, inclusive of a workaround necessary due to the lack of a parent selector in CSS.

The way we will get around this for our focus styles is to add a sibling span element to apply the styles and position those styles on top of the Select element.

In this lesson, we learn how to reorganize file-based routes in TanStack Router to accommodate nested routing structures.

We explore how to create additional nested routes by converting files into directories, allowing for further nesting.

For example, to create a nested route like `/employees/$employeeId/edit`, we can create a **directory** (!) named `$employeeId` and place an `index.tsx` file inside it to define the route component for this nested route.

This approach provides flexibility in organizing files while maintaining the convention that file names and locations align with route paths. We also see how to adapt existing components and loaders to work with these reorganized routes, enabling features like edit forms or delete actions (or whatever) within nested routes.

In this lesson, we learn how to parametrize the loader for a nested route in TanStack Router.

We focus on a nested route like `/employees/$employeeId`, where the `$employeeId` is a **dynamic parameter**.

To fetch data for this route, we use a `loader` function that accesses the `$employeeId` parameter. This is achieved by using the params object available in the `loader` function, which contains the dynamic segments of the URL. We then use this parameter to call a function like `getEmployeeById`, which fetches specific employee details from an API.

In this lesson, we learn how to create nested routes and outlets in TanStack Router using file-based routing.

We start by creating a new `employees` directory and files to represent nested routes, such as `/employees/$employeeId`. The `$` symbol is used to denote dynamic parameters.

We then use the `<Link>` component from TanStack Router to create links to these nested routes, passing necessary parameters.

To render the nested content, we use the `<Outlet>` component (nested), which automatically renders child routes. This approach allows us to dynamically display stuff under a nested route.

All the time, the TanStack Router generator automatically updates the route tree based on file changes - our routing configuration remains consistent 🔥
