Learn Egghead, Express and Immutable

- [Express 5](https://expressjs.com/en/guide/migrating-5.html) is still in alpha (and has been for over two years), but most of these lessons apply to Express 4 as long you use something like [express-async-errors](https://www.npmjs.com/package/express-async-errors) to add support for `async` routes and middleware

Express is a minimal web server built on Node.js that provides essential functionality for delivering web applications to the browser and mobile devices. This series will guide you through the first steps of using Express for building your own applications.

Getting Started with Express.js

In this lesson you will learn how to support data modification by handling HTTP verbs besides GET. We will look at how to edit, save, and delete content with `.put` and `.delete`.

Streams are a big part of Node's famous non-blocking I/O, and Express lets you take full advantage of them. This lesson demonstrates how to integrate streams into your server to improve performance and simplify your code. 

We will look at `.creatReadStream`, `.createWriteStream`, and `.pipe`  to read and write from streams.

Any extra information on the screen will easily distract the audience from the purpose of your lesson. Do your best to remove any extra notifications, UI, or other information that would take away from what you're teaching.

Tangents are opportunities for other lessons. When you find yourself drifting off-topic because you feel you _need_ to explain  some code you wrote, consider how that piece of code fits back into a "How do I?" question, then come up with a separate lesson to capture it.

Sometimes you just need to serve existing files. In this lesson we'll examine how to use functionality built into Express to do just that.

As your application grows, it's easy to end up with a long list of route handlers and helper functions. In this lesson we'll look at strategies for keeping things organized and manageable.

We will move individual subpaths into their own file by using `.router` to create an instance of the Express router.

Recording can be intimidating, so it's best to just hit the record button and start talking. Take it one thought at a time. Sit quietly, think about what you're going to say/type, then do it. If you mess, up, undo back to when you were quiet and try again. Once you get a good take, move on to the next thought. The ideal raw recording is a ton of bad takes and one good take for each thought. So when you get to the editing phase, you quickly clear out the bad takes and leave the good ones.

Editing a raw lesson video is a very simple process. You simply watch your own lesson and edit out all the bad takes and dead space using the "Ripple Delete" command. You will be left with a nice, cut lesson ready to export and upload.

Video is a one-way form of communication, so user's don't have the chance to ask you to clarify or ask "Where does X fit in?" This places the burden on you to guide their eyes as you explain how all the little pieces of the code fit together. When your application has a "flow", "X triggers Y, Y triggers Z", make sure to "show the flow" by walking them through where each chunk of code fits. This involves a lot of mouse movement (or fancy keyboard selection shortcuts) and hightlighting to bring it all together.

High availability apps require that no distinction be made between local and remote services. Attached resources should be accessed by environment variables, and in doing so allow you to swap out one attached resource for another. 

In this lesson we will setup a reverse proxy that directs image path requests and routes them through a defined server URL. By doing so, we decouple server requests for images which allows for easy switching from locally-served image assets to a CDN by simply updating an environment variable.

This lesson will walk you through replacing the app's file system reliance with a live MongoDB database. We'll also use a popular ORM library to manage our database operations.
