React PowerPlug is a set of pluggable renderless components to help you prototype quickly. These components don't actually render DOM to the page but contain the state and logic for you to power your presentation components via render props. In this lesson I go over the basics of StimulusJS with a simple Counter example. I show how state in Stimulus actually lives in your HTML and how to bind functionality from your controller to your html with data attributes. I also demonstrate how to use actions to update the state and getters and setters to clean up the controller.

In this lesson, I use Enzyme and Jest's Snapshot functionality to write an integration test for a component called CounterConsumer that consumes the Render Prop component Counter. This integration test is great because it doesn't necessarily care that CounterConsumer uses Counter behind the scenes, just that it works when integrated.

In this lesson, I use Enzyme and Jest to unit test a Counter Render Prop component. Writing integration tests are perfect for components that consume a Render Prop component. Likewise, unit tests are important to write for the Render Prop component itself, as you can test each individual unit that makes up the component.

In this lesson, we look at where we came from with refs in React. Starting with the deprecated string ref pattern, callback refs, and then how to use the new `createRef()` method in React **16.3**.

The componentWillReceiveProps() method is being deprecated in future version of React (17). Many of us use this method day-to-day to check for incoming prop changes, store state, and to invoke side effects like logging or fetching data from a server.

In this lesson, we'll look at how to refactor an existing component that uses componentWillReceiveProps() to instead use getDerivedStateFromProps() and componentDidUpdate().

Use Unstated to share state between two separate rendered components

Vue (pronounced /vjuː/, like view) is a progressive framework for building user interfaces. Unlike other monolithic frameworks, Vue is designed from the ground up to be incrementally adoptable. The core library is focused on the view layer only, and is very easy to pick up and integrate with other libraries or existing projects. On the other hand, Vue is also perfectly capable of powering sophisticated Single-Page Applications when used in combination with modern tooling and supporting libraries.

In this lesson I show how to use webpack to code split based on route in VueJS. Code splitting is a useful tool to help eliminate unused code and only load what's necessary.
