Data structures are the in-memory representation of the data. In this lesson, you will learn what the data structures are, why they are needed and what are the most common data structures.
Instructor: [0:00] All kinds of software and the programs that we write, they heavily rely on the data in one way or another, and we don't want that data to be scattered all across the memory. We want it to be neatly placed in the memory so that whenever we need it, we can easily access it from there. [0:15] But how do we achieve this neat representation of the data in the memory? We use data structures for that. Data structures are the in-memory representation of the data, and they decide how we are going to represent the data in the memory and how we are going to access it from there whenever we need it.
[0:32] There are multiple different kinds of data structures such as arrays, linked lists, stacks, queues, hash tables, trees, and the graphs.
