Vimium's Vomnibar is a "command palette"-like search tool for your open tabs, browser history, and bookmarks. We can search through and jump to any tab open across browser windows. We can also do a generalized search with results that also include browser history and bookmarks which can either be opened in the current tab or a new tab. If you're anything like me, you open tons of tabs and visit hundreds of webpages over the course of a week. The vomnibar puts all of that at your fingertips.

Vimium's Vomnibar is a "command palette"-like search tool for your open tabs, browser history, and bookmarks.

Another aspect of Vimium's configurability is customizable key mappings. We can add new mappings and override existing ones. If there is a certain Vimium feature you want to make easier to trigger, adjust the key mapping to suit your needs.

Many aspects of Vimium can be configured in order to bend the tool to your specific needs and use cases. We look at how to configure what sites turn off Vimium, the default search engine, link hint characters, and other basic settings. We also see how both insert mode and searching a visual selection work. Custom keymappings and custom search engines are covered in subsequent lessons.

Many aspects of Vimium can be configured in order to bend the tool to your specific needs and use cases.

Vimium's "marks" feature lets you mark positions in the current tab and across tabs. These are positional markers that you can jump back to. For instance, as you browse a huge page of documentation or a massive forum discussion, you can leave a series of "dog ears" to sections or conversations that you'll later want to revisit. Each tab supports its own set of lower-case letter marks. Upper-case letter marks are shared across tabs allowing you to seamlessly move between a specific set of tabs regardless of how they are arranged.

A powerful navigation and interaction feature, and probably my most used Vimium feature, is Link Hints. By hitting `f`, we prompt Vimium to overlay link hints for every visible link, button, and interactive HTML element (e.g. a text area). By typing the keys corresponding to a link hint, we effectively click that link or element. We also look at a few page movement commands like scrolling up (`k`) and down (`j`) as well as jumping to the top of a page (`gg`) and to the bottom (`G`). Putting all of these together, we can get into a fluid and efficient flow for common browser tasks.

A powerful navigation and interaction feature, and probably my most used Vimium feature, is Link Hints.

The Vimium Chrome extension enhances page navigation and searching. By pressing forward slash, users enter find mode to search terms on the page. Additional keys like 'N' and Shift+N help navigate through search results forwards and backwards, respectively. The extension proves especially useful on complex web pages, like Stack Overflow, for quickly locating specific sections like answers or share links without reading through all the content.

With these advanced URL manipulation commands we have a whole new way to think about traversing between locations on a website. This is especially useful for sites like GitHub that use a hierarchical URL structure. Since each layer of the URL is a valid page, we can move up that structure (with `gu`) and edit the current URL (with `ge`) to navigate somewhere else.

With these advanced URL manipulation commands we have a whole new way to think about traversing between locations on a website.

Losing focus and getting lost while looking for that browser tab from *earlier* is a drag on getting things done. Even minor slow-downs in how you navigate within and between pages can pull you out of your flow. There are so many minor aspects of your browser-based workflows that chip away at your productivity.

Vimium extends how you use the browser with a highly-efficient, keyboard-centric workflow. Vimium leverages powerful concepts from the Vim editor (`j`/`k` for scrolling, `f` for following links, `/` for find, etc.) allowing for faster navigation and interaction without the need to switch to the mouse.

Don't worry, you don't need to know anything about Vim. Anyone who spends a lot of time in the browser and is willing to learn a few shortcuts has a lot to gain from using Vimium.

This course demonstrates the core features of Vimium through practical, real-world use cases. Even if you only adopt a few of the shortcuts, you'll find yourself using the browser in surprising, new, and speedy ways.

In 2018, Kent C. Dodds wrote: "The more your tests resemble the way your software is used, the more confidence they can give you." This phrase became the guiding principle for the entire Testing Library ecosystem. 

A few years later, the React Testing Library became the de facto library for writing unit and integration tests in the React ecosystem.

Thanks to its user-centric perspective, our tests are closer to our user experience and far away from implementation details.

The `@testing-library` family of packages helps you test UI components in a user-centric way.

You want to write maintainable tests that give you high confidence that your components are working for your users. As a part of this goal, you want your tests to avoid including implementation details so refactors of your components (changes to implementation but not functionality) don't break your tests and slow you and your team down.

An Introduction to the React Testing Library

For many years, the most annoying thing about writing tests with the React Testing Library is when the "not wrapped in act(...)" warning appears in your console. act is a React testing util that ensures all UI updates are wrapped up before proceeding with your test case. What we often miss is that we actually don't need act and that this error is there to tell us something instead, and that is: You are not testing everything!

In this lesson, we are going to understand why the "not wrapped in act(...)" shows up and how to get rid of it!

Sometimes, you might need to wait for an element to disappear from your UI before proceeding with your test setup or making your assertion.

In this lesson, we will learn about a wrapper around the waitFor that allows you to wait until an element is removed from your UI: the *waitForElementToBeRemoved*.

After querying and interacting with elements come assertions. Assertions are really important to assert that your test case really works. Sometimes due to the async nature of your code, your assertion might need to wait some time until it passes.

In this lesson, we will learn how to wait for a period of time until our assertion passes by using the *waitFor* util.

Whilst fireEvent helps to interact with elements, that is not how a user interacts with them. When a user interacts with an element, more than a single event is fired. This means that by using fireEvent, we might be missing some scenarios that might be triggered accidentally by other events.

In this lesson, we are going to learn about the companion library of the React Testing Library that allows you to simulate full interactions with your elements: the *user-event* library.

After querying, the next important part of testing is interacting with our UI. To do this we need to fire events.

In this lesson, we are going to learn how we can fire a single event in our elements by using the *fireEvent*!

Querying is difficult! Even if we follow the guiding principles and always start from the queries accessible to everyone, we are bound to get stuck sometimes. To help us out, the Testing Playground was created.

When debugging our tests, one important part is understanding how our UI looks after our component renders or after we apply some changes to it.

In the previous lessons, we always destructured our queries for render. As your test grows and you need more queries, this can become annoying very quickly. 

Ideally, we would have an object that is pre-bound to the document.body and allows us to use all the queries without any need for restructuring.

In this lesson, we are going to see how to tidy our code and save some time by using the *screen* util.

Given how web pages are built nowadays, you might find yourself with multiple instances of the same element.

To avoid querying for a list of elements and then filtering them down, you can constrain your query to a specific area.

Sometimes, none of the queries above will work for you. Instead of focusing on implementation details, the React Testing Library gives you a controlled way of doing so: using data-testid!

Building complex components like Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers from scratch can be challenging, especially without good reference implementations. This lesson demonstrates a powerful workflow combining the `ghx` CLI tool with AI assistants (like Google's AI Studio and Cursor's agent) to overcome this hurdle.

5.  **Generate Code:** Prompt the AI (Gemini 2.5 Pro in AI Studio or ChatGPT O3) to generate a *new* MCP server (e.g., with five distinct tools) based *solely* on the provided real-world examples.
6.  **Integrate and Debug:** Set up the generated TypeScript code (`mcp_server.ts`) locally in Cursor, install dependencies (`pnpm install`), and use Cursor's agent (`Cmd+I`) or inline fixes (`Cmd+K`) to resolve TypeScript errors and path issues.
7.  **Configure in Cursor:** Add the newly created MCP server (running via `bun mcp_server.ts`) to Cursor's MCP settings, using the absolute path and the `bun` command.
8.  **Test the MCP Server:** Interact with Cursor's chat agent to call the custom tools (e.g., `add_note`, `list_notes`, `write_managed_file`) defined in the AI-generated MCP server, verifying its functionality.

The biggest splash was probably GPT-4.1 hitting the streets, but there's plenty more action around MCP, Vercel's v0, Google's developer tools, and interesting community discussions. I've spent some time with GPT-4.1 already (specifically in Cursor), and while it shows promise, it didn't quite convince me to switch from Gemini 2.5 Pro yet. * **Community Hack: Llama 4.0 via Groq in Cursor:** Levi Dan shared a [detailed (and slightly hacky) guide](https://x.com/lxvi_brg/status/1908865544721154455) on how to wire up Groq's fast Llama 4.0 API into Cursor by using the OpenAI API key slot and intercepting requests.   * v0 also [added AI integrations](https://x.com/v0/status/1911912183149256943) with models from xai (Grok), FAL, Groq, and DeepInfra, including automatic API key setup and pay-as-you-go billing via Vercel Marketplace. They're offering a $10 credit for the Grok free tier.

  * Vercel shared insights on the [grep.app migration from CRA to Next.js](http://grep.app/), showcasing performance improvements. ([Source](https://x.com/rauchg/status/1911920410020757881)) I'm personally excited about this one – I rely heavily on examples when working with AI, and for me, a good example is often worth ten prompts. Tools like `grep.app` that make code discovery easier are invaluable.

* **Google's Growing Stack:**

  * Project IDX has officially become [Firebase Studio](https://x.com/_davideast/status/1909990728593453455), positioning itself as a cloud-based, agentic dev environment for full-stack AI apps, deeply integrated with Firebase. I've tried spinning up a few sites with it, and the speed is impressive. However, for more complex tasks like designing from images or intricate interactions, I still find myself leaning towards v0 for now.

  * Google quietly released the [Agent Development Kit (ADK)](https://x.com/omarsar0/status/1910004370864742757), a Python library (`pip install google-adk`) for building multi-agent systems with features like state management, tool usage, and orchestration. I haven't had a chance to dive into this yet, but it's right at the top of my list. Building robust agent systems is a huge area of interest, so this is probably the announcement I'm most excited about exploring this week.

  * Ramón Medrano Llamas shared his experience [moving back to VS Code from Cursor](https://x.com/rmedranollamas/status/1909516749612999149), highlighting the effectiveness of GitHub Copilot combined with the Gemini Code Assist extension (using Gemini 2.5 Pro in Agent Mode). I gave the Gemini Code Assist extension a try myself, but as someone deeply embedded in the Cursor workflow with established keyboard shortcuts and patterns, I struggled to find a flow I liked and didn't stick with it for long. It's interesting to see different perspectives, though!

  * AI features are rolling out more broadly in [Chrome](https://x.com/iam_chonchol/status/1909942954686636224), including text grabbing from YouTube videos and Google Lens integration.

* **Cloudflare Corner:**

  * Big news for edge compute: [Cloudflare Containers are coming to Open Beta in June](https://x.com/CherryJimbo/status/1910682562499850405), enabling running containerized apps (Next.js, Go, PHP confirmed) directly on the edge. This is huge news, in my opinion. Think about all the WordPress sites and other applications that rely on containerization. Opening this up on the edge unlocks incredible possibilities, including for AI applications. I'm super hyped to see what people build with this come June.

Cursor's AI Agent has the abilitly to invoke MCP tools, but they lack direct access to your project. This lesson shows how to build custom MCP (Model Context Protocol) server tools that bridge this gap. Learn to define tool parameters using Zod schemas and the crucial `.describe()` method to explicitly request necessary context from the Cursor environment *before* your tool runs. See how the AI gathers this information (like Git status or version via terminal commands, or web search results) and passes it to your tool, enabling powerful, context-aware automation.

**Workflow demonstrated in this lesson:**

*   Scaffold a basic MCP server using a Cloudflare template (`pnpm create cloudflare`).
*   Run the MCP server locally and configure it in Cursor settings.
*   Define MCP tools (e.g., `status`) within the server code (`index.ts`).
*   Specify required context for tools using Zod schema parameters and `.describe()` (e.g., requesting "The status of the git repository").
*   Interact with the Cursor Agent using natural language (e.g., "Please check the status").
*   Observe the Agent's thought process: identifying the need for specific context based on the `.describe()` text.
