OpenAI's technologies offer a range of AI-powered tools and capabilities, making it easier for developers to build intelligent, responsive, and user-friendly applications.

We can teach an AI model to better understand the information we want to generate responses from. To do that, we can use training data in a particular format, JSONL.

Once we have our data generated and uploaded to OpenAI, we can now use it to fine tune or customize a model to provide better results.

We'll use the training data we generated and uploaded in previous lessons to create a new fine-tuned model based off of the OpenAI davinci model.

Using the models that OpenAI provides will get you really far, but their knowledge base can be somewhat limited for particular information or if its past a certain date that the model doesn't support.

To improve the experience, we can train models to have a better understanding of the data we want to work with, whether that's documentation for a new developer tool or guiding the model to respond closer to how how we expect.

The problem—is you need a lot of data in a specific format to do this and its not very practical to write it all our by hand. So we can instead use GPT, where by providing our data, we can ask it to generate JSONL training data for us and format it in a way that we can use to fine tune our model.

An important part in creating a data API whether based on generative systems or not is being able to reliably generate responses in the format you need. Getting a long string as a response makes a lot of sense if you're building an app or tool that appears conversational or if you just want to display a little bit of information as a response, but if you want to do something programmatic with the information, such as using different datapoints from the information in different parts of the UI, you'll have a hard time parsing out that information from a single request.

To get around this, we can simply ask GPT to return our data formatted as JSON! Further, we can ask it in a particular shape. You'll learn how to format a chat completion prompt to request JSON data and gain confidence in that data by defining the shape in the request.

Requests that we typically make in an application come all at the same time. We make the request, we get a response. But using a streaming mechanism, we can get our information as it comes resulting in a quicker initial response, as well as set ourselves up for different user experiences including conversational-like messaging.

One of the other tools I use is Emmet. It's used for writing HTML much more quickly by using shorthand. It can also be used for JSX. VSCode also supports ESLint which we will use and configure in our VSCode `settings.json`. I will also set up Prettier as my default formatter for TypeScript and TypeScript React files.

We can leverage GitHub Actions to automate the running of all of our accessibility auditing tools as part of a Continuous Integration (CI) workflow. 

Auditing tools will only catch a percentage of potential accessibility issues, it is no replacement for manual testing.  But being able to automate the auditing will add efficiencies to our testing and provide an early warning system that can be run much more frequently than it’s practical to perform manual testing.  Additionally, we can use our CI suite as a safety net to prevent code changes that break accessibility from being able to be merged.

Nx already comes with a default TypeScript setup. This happens on Twitter, Discord, Slack, and many other platforms. Puppeteer is a Node library which provides a high-level API to control headless Chrome or Chromium over the DevTools Protocol. It can also be configured to use full (non-headless) Chrome or Chromium.

When taking screenshots, it's important that the browser is big enough to show all of the content in the DOM that we want to screenshot. We can do this by setting the viewport.

We have a number of options to use when testing for accessibility issues concerning alternative text for images.  The react-axe library and axe browser extension will both report when an image is missing alternative text.  The tota11y browser extension will annotate any images that are missing alternative text.  Running eslint with the eslint-plugin-jsx-a11y plugin installed will report on any `<img>` elements missing an `alt` attribute.  Finally, we can use a screen reader to actually hear what is read when an image has focus.

Define Images with Appropriate Text Alternatives

Our accessibility auditing toolkit makes it very easy for us to test for any form controls that are missing labels or are not correctly associated with their labels.  Running Eslint with the eslint-plugin-jsx-a11y installed will show us any form controls with missing or unassociated labels.  Running react-axe or using axe to audit a web page will similarly list any of these findings.  Finally using tota11y we can annotate any form controls on a page that are missing labels.  This is definitely some of the lower hanging fruit that we can easily find and fix when making our applications accessible!
