Vue (pronounced /vjuː/, like view) is a progressive framework for building user interfaces. Unlike other monolithic frameworks, Vue is designed from the ground up to be incrementally adoptable. The core library is focused on the view layer only, and is very easy to pick up and integrate with other libraries or existing projects. On the other hand, Vue is also perfectly capable of powering sophisticated Single-Page Applications when used in combination with modern tooling and supporting libraries.

Some components render differently based on the route they are rendered on. To use router within component tests, it is best to define its default values in `cy.mount()` function. Since we can customize this in any way we’d like, we can create a custom `path` attribute where we can pass our own routes and test our component behavior against them.

Every component test that uses Pinia needs to have Pinia imported and initialized. Instead of doing this separately for each test you can customize your `cy.mount()` command to automatically use a default store. You can further then customize it to use your own store in case you want to change its state.

Instead of calling an action function to change the state, we can choose to change it directly by importing the attributes from our store. In order to not loose reactivity while destructuring properties we can use `storeToRefs()` function.

When component uses a state management tool like Pinia, it needs to be defined within the test. To use Pinia inside the Cypress component test, we need to create a Pinia instance and pass it into our store. For changing the state we can call our actions directly from within our test and assert different attributes of the component with Cypress commands

`emit()` function enables components to communicate with one another. While this communication is a good candidate for end to end test, we can also test this in isolation within component. To do this, we’ll use `cy.spy()` function that will watch for the defined function call. Using this, we can confirm that our emitted event was actually invoked.

By passing a `slots` option to our `cy.mount()` function, we can define content to be rendered inside our current component. We can use default or named components and eve use Vue’s `h()` function to create element and pass components with desired properties.

Some components can have properties passed into them, For these, we can use an options parameter in our `cy.mount()` function and pass `props` attribute which will define the properties we want to pass into our component. This way we can test whether different properties correctly render out in our component.

Importing styles is going to be essential for all of our components to render properly. We will do this similarly as we do in our application - at top level. `component.ts` file is the proper file for this, as this is the one that gets loaded before running our specs. Importing our `index.css` file here will make all of our components render with the correct styles.

To create our first test, you’ll create a spec file that pairs with the component. Usual naming convention is using `filename.cy.ts` (or .js), but this can be easily set up in `cypres.config.ts` file. After you create the spec file, you can mount the component by importing it and using cy.mount() command inside an `it()` block. This will render the component inside Cypress app, but will not load all the dependencies that the component needs, like css styles. These need to be imported into the spec file manually. Since we are running our component in a browser and inside a Cypress app, we can interact with it using common Cypress commands.

To start with component testing in Cypress you need to open Cypress and go through setup wizard that will help you out with your first steps. It will take you through a couple of steps, where you’ll install dependencies and create important configuration. Most of this is done for you, but you can customize anything. In our application, we will be working with Vue 3 framework with Vite bundler.

[Storybook](https://storybook.js.org/) is already powerful for being able to develop components in isolation as well as using those stories as living documentation for others. [Nx](https://nx.dev) goes a step further. It leverages the fact that Storybook exposes an `iframe.html` that allows to access the rendering of the story without the actual Storybook frame. On top of that, Nx generates a Cypress configuration to run tests against the Storybook stories.

[Nx](https://nx.dev) promotes best practices by automatically generating [Cypress](https://www.cypress.io/) based e2e tests for all applications inside an Nx monorepo workspace. Not only does Nx take away the burden of configuring Cypress, but it also allows to easily serve Cypress in "watch" or headless mode. The latter is particularly useful to also run in your CI pipeline. When you run Cypress test with Nx, it automatically makes sure to first launch the tested application, then run Cypress and point it to the running application.

We can leverage GitHub Actions to automate the running of all of our accessibility auditing tools as part of a Continuous Integration (CI) workflow. 

Auditing tools will only catch a percentage of potential accessibility issues, it is no replacement for manual testing.  But being able to automate the auditing will add efficiencies to our testing and provide an early warning system that can be run much more frequently than it’s practical to perform manual testing.  Additionally, we can use our CI suite as a safety net to prevent code changes that break accessibility from being able to be merged.

“a11y” stands for “accessibility.” It is a numeronym, with 11 representing the count of letters between the letter a and the letter y.

Accessibility is broken down into 4 categories of disability: visual, cognitive, auditory, motor. 

Regardless of the category of disability, accessibilities aim in web development is to make applications and websites usable for everyone.

To audit our app for accessibility issues at runtime we can use Cypress to run our application in a browser environment and then with the aid of the axe-core `cypress-axe` library we can analyze the current page for any accessibility issues.

Server may respond differently when providing a response to a logged in user. Usually, a user is identified when an authorization header is sent with the request. With .intercept(), we can dynamically add a header to a request and skip the login process. Server will provide the same response as it would when a user would go through login process.

When user waits too long, we might want to give them an option to reload page and try again. This is usually a hard case to reach and test effectively. But the .intercept() command provides us with a `throttleKbps` option that can limit the bandwidth, or we can use `delay` option that will delay our response for a given time.

Servers sometimes use entity tags that identify a user and provide them with a cached response if needed. This can create ambiguity in your tests. To make your tests more stable, you can modify the request headers that take care of this caching. By deleting `if-none-match` header with `.intercept()` command, you will get a fresh response from server every time.

When a static response is not enough, we can take the real data from server and modify it to our liking. This saves a ton of time, because we don’t need to create the data ourselves. Instead, we can take e.g. response body and change only a desired attribute. This gives us one more advantage, because we can first make assertions on real data, and only then make changes. This is a great advantage compared to providing a static response, that essentially creates a blind spot for any API changes.

When you don’t want to stub your response or create your data before the test, you can change the request your application makes altogether. If your server recognizes different queries, you can modify your request‘s URL and add a query that will specify what kind of data you want to get.

When testing certain user stories, you may want to start with a clean state, but then return to the initial page and see the data you have created. This can be problematic if you are stubbing your requests. Luckily, you can limit how many times you a request should be intercepted.

Instead of explicitly providing the exact body, you can choose to save the data you want to use in a separate file. When you create a file in the fixtures folder, you can reference it using `fixture` option in the .intercept() command. This will automatically look into the fixtures folder and load the data from the file.

Cursor's AI Agent has the abilitly to invoke MCP tools, but they lack direct access to your project. This lesson shows how to build custom MCP (Model Context Protocol) server tools that bridge this gap. Learn to define tool parameters using Zod schemas and the crucial `.describe()` method to explicitly request necessary context from the Cursor environment *before* your tool runs. See how the AI gathers this information (like Git status or version via terminal commands, or web search results) and passes it to your tool, enabling powerful, context-aware automation.

*   Scaffold a basic MCP server using a Cloudflare template (`pnpm create cloudflare`).
*   Run the MCP server locally and configure it in Cursor settings.

*   Watch the Agent call your MCP tool, passing the gathered local context (Git status, version, etc.) as arguments.
*   Receive the final response from the Agent, incorporating the information provided by your local MCP tool.

*   Allows Cursor's AI to access and reason about information from your local machine (Git status, versions, file contents, etc.).
*   Enables the creation of AI tools that directly interact with or report on your local development environment.
*   Demonstrates the power of using `.describe()` in Zod schemas to guide the AI in gathering necessary context automatically.
*   Unlocks advanced automation possibilities by combining AI reasoning with local machine access.

Vimium's Vomnibar is a "command palette"-like search tool for your open tabs, browser history, and bookmarks. We can search through and jump to any tab open across browser windows. We can also do a generalized search with results that also include browser history and bookmarks which can either be opened in the current tab or a new tab. If you're anything like me, you open tons of tabs and visit hundreds of webpages over the course of a week. The vomnibar puts all of that at your fingertips.

Vimium's Vomnibar is a "command palette"-like search tool for your open tabs, browser history, and bookmarks.

Another aspect of Vimium's configurability is customizable key mappings. We can add new mappings and override existing ones. If there is a certain Vimium feature you want to make easier to trigger, adjust the key mapping to suit your needs.

Many aspects of Vimium can be configured in order to bend the tool to your specific needs and use cases. We look at how to configure what sites turn off Vimium, the default search engine, link hint characters, and other basic settings. Many aspects of Vimium can be configured in order to bend the tool to your specific needs and use cases.

Vimium's "marks" feature lets you mark positions in the current tab and across tabs. These are positional markers that you can jump back to. For instance, as you browse a huge page of documentation or a massive forum discussion, you can leave a series of "dog ears" to sections or conversations that you'll later want to revisit. Each tab supports its own set of lower-case letter marks. Upper-case letter marks are shared across tabs allowing you to seamlessly move between a specific set of tabs regardless of how they are arranged.

Vimium's "marks" feature lets you mark positions in the current tab and across tabs. These are positional markers that you can jump back to.

Vimium's `yy` shortcut makes quick work of grabbing the URL for the current page. I find this useful for linking to an article in my notes or sharing a web page with my team in Slack/Discord. We'll get a glimpse at a couple other features like `gi` (for "go to input") and `o` to open the URL on the clipboard.

A powerful navigation and interaction feature, and probably my most used Vimium feature, is Link Hints. By hitting `f`, we prompt Vimium to overlay link hints for every visible link, button, and interactive HTML element (e.g. a text area). By typing the keys corresponding to a link hint, we effectively click that link or element. We also look at a few page movement commands like scrolling up (`k`) and down (`j`) as well as jumping to the top of a page (`gg`) and to the bottom (`G`). Putting all of these together, we can get into a fluid and efficient flow for common browser tasks.

A powerful navigation and interaction feature, and probably my most used Vimium feature, is Link Hints.

The Vimium Chrome extension enhances page navigation and searching. By pressing forward slash, users enter find mode to search terms on the page. Additional keys like 'N' and Shift+N help navigate through search results forwards and backwards, respectively. The extension proves especially useful on complex web pages, like Stack Overflow, for quickly locating specific sections like answers or share links without reading through all the content.

With these advanced URL manipulation commands we have a whole new way to think about traversing between locations on a website. This is especially useful for sites like GitHub that use a hierarchical URL structure. Since each layer of the URL is a valid page, we can move up that structure (with `gu`) and edit the current URL (with `ge`) to navigate somewhere else.
